FACT FILE:
* In his early years Ralph's youthful good looks enabled him to appear in commercials & TV series.
* In 1979 Ralph Macchio graduated from Half Hollow Hills West High School.
* His first major TV role was in the popular family drama "Eight Is Enough" (1980).
* Ralph's first feature film appearance was also in 1980 in the comedy "Up the Academy".
* In 1983 Ralph Macchio starred as one of the kids from the wrong side of the track in Francis Ford Coppola's "The Outsiders". This film was based on S.E. Hinton's popular novel & had an all-star cast including: Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell & Matt Dillon.
* Ralph Macchio became famous worldwide when he starred in "The Karate Kid" (1984) and its sequels The Karate Kid II (1986) & The Karate Kid III (1989). "The Karate Kid" series of films have become one of the most pouplar film franchises of all-time.
* Ralph was listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1984" in John Willis' Screen World.
* After "The Karate Kid" Ralph Macchio continued to star in films throughout the 1980's including: Teachers (1984), Crossroads (1986) & Distant Thunder (1988).
* Ralph Macchio has 2 children, there names are Julia and Daniel.
* In 1992 he co-starred in "My Cousin Vinny" with Joe Pesci & in 1994 "Naked In New York" with an ensemble cast including: Eric Stoltz, Mary-Louise Parker, Jill Clayburgh , Tony Curtis, Kathleen Turner & Timothy Dalton.
* In 1996 he toured 39 cities in the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".
* In the new millennium Ralph has been content with making appearances in independent films.
